Power of attorney document with pen illustrating how it can help you care for your mother’s affairs

Does your mom rely on you more and more to take care of her affairs? Would you like to know how a power of attorney could make both of your lives easier?

Hi everyone, I’m Elsa W. Smith. Your Maryland estate planning attorney and the host of Women Winning Wednesdays -a show with a mission to empower women through estate planning

This week’s topic was “Help, I need a POA for my mom.”  Even though this episode is in response to the many calls we’ve received from stressed out adult kids, I invited adults kids and their moms to watch.

I touched on three important points:

  1. We talked about what mom should look for when choosing a POA agent;
  2. We discussed the dangers of mom choosing the wrong person as her POA agent; and
  3. Why it’s important for mom to take action to protect herself once she receives an adverse diagnosis (if not sooner).

To listen to the full episode of Women Winning Wednesdays click the link HERE

If you’re in MD or DC, I invite you to call us if you need estate planning help for your mom (or for yourself).

I’m Elsa W. Smith, your Maryland estate planning attorney. I’ll see you in my next video. Take care.

I highly recommend Attorney Smith to carry out all your estate planning needs. Her approach includes taking the time to educate her clients on their options and explaining tough to understand concepts in a clear way without rushing through the process. Her demeanor made the necessary challenging and personal conversations less intimidating. Attorney Smith and her team (Alexandra) were efficient, patient, and responsive, operating like a well oiled machine. My experience was top notch!
