Navigating the Estate Planning Consultation Process: What to Expect

Woman of color working at her desk representing the estate planning consultation process and what to expect during your meeting

When it comes to planning for your future and securing your loved ones’ well-being, consulting with an estate planning attorney can provide invaluable guidance. Reaching out to a legal professional might seem intimidating, especially if you’re new to the process, but rest assured, contacting an expert is a proactive move towards protecting what matters most to you.

At the Law Offices of Elsa W. Smith, LLC, we aim to make the process as straightforward and supportive as possible. Here’s what you can expect when scheduling an estate planning consultation with us:

Step 1: Schedule a call with our Client Success Coordinator

Whether you reach out to us via phone or through our website, the first step is to schedule a call with our Client Success Coordinator (CSC). This complimentary 15-minute call allows our CSC to gather information about your circumstances and assess whether a consultation with our attorney is right for you. It’s important to note that our CSC won’t offer legal advice during this call.

If a consultation with our attorney is recommended, the CSC will be able to book your consultation during the same phone call. If not, we’ll provide you with resources that may be more beneficial for your situation.

Step 2: Schedule Your Consultation

Schedule your virtual consultation quickly and easily with our Client Success Coordinator. You’ll be informed of our policies and the cost of the consultation, which needs to be paid upfront before the appointment can be scheduled.

Once your payment is successfully processed, your appointment with Attorney Smith will be confirmed. You’ll promptly receive a comprehensive questionnaire designed to gather essential details about your circumstances and provide us with a “baseline” of information.

Step 3: Completing the Questionnaire

The questionnaire must be submitted at least 48 hours before your consultation. This gives Attorney Smith ample time to review your information and prepare for the meeting. By providing this information in advance, Attorney Smith can hit the ground running and ask targeted questions to better understand your needs and suggest the appropriate estate planning documents.

In the lead-up to your consultation, you’ll receive automated reminders about the appointment. Once we receive your questionnaire responses, your meeting link will be sent automatically. This ensures you’re well-prepared and aware of the details for your upcoming consultation.

Step 4: Login to Your Consultation

The consultation serves as a confidential setting for you to express your concerns and receive guidance on how estate planning strategies can help address them. Over the course of the hour, you will have the chance to ask questions and let the attorney get to know you better.

By the end of the session, the attorney will be able to provide you with an individualized plan that best fits your estate planning needs.

Conclusion

In four easy steps, you will begin your journey towards empowerment. At the Law Offices of Elsa W. Smith, we know that every situation is unique, and your particular set of circumstances impacts the documents that will form your estate plan. That is why we strive to personalize the estate planning process from the moment you contact our office. We value all of our potential new clients, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you soon.

Ready to take the next step? Contact us today to begin the process of securing your future and protecting your loved ones.
